CO-LIVING PIONEER THE COLLECTIVE GRANTED PLANNING PERMISSION IN STRATFORD

The Collective’s second major site in London marks the expansion of co-living across the capital

LONDON, 29 JUNE, 2017 – Pioneering co-living property start-up The Collective has today announced that the London Legacy Development Corporation has resolved to grant planning permission for its next major co-living scheme in London.

Designed by PLP Architecture, the 250-room, 19-storey development in Stratford will open in late 2018/early 2019 and marks the latest addition to a growing portfolio that includes The Collective Old Oak, the world’s largest co-living scheme and now fully let, which launched to the public in May last year.  A third major site has been acquired in Canary Wharf.

Further positioning London at the forefront of the global co-living movement, The Collective Stratford will comprise co-living apartments and access to a range of amenity spaces including: communal kitchens, a gym, sauna, library, cinema room, outdoor hot tub, roof terraces, external gallery space and a ‘Hackney Wick-inspired’ ground floor terrace and food market overlooking the Channelsea River, which The Collective has committed to clean up, landscape and maintain.  The community-driven residential concept will also house a co-working space.

Pricing will be announced in due course but a single payment will include rent, all utility bills, council tax, wi-fi, concierge services, 24/7 security, bi-weekly room cleans and linen changes.

The Collective Stratford is at the heart of an ambitious £9 billion government-backed regeneration of the area, generating thousands of jobs and new homes.  Stratford is set to be transformed into a new cultural district, with new sites for the V&A, Sadler’s Wells and a campus for the London College of Fashion launching in the near future.  In addition, the area has world-class transport connectivity – the development is a four-minute walk to Stratford Station and Crossrail will be arriving from 2019.
