It’s not only healthy to take a break from the glare of the computer screen and grab some fresh air; but, a brief change of scenery can aid creativity, reduce stress, and focus your thinking.
And, the Den is so well positioned to aid that escape. Sitting on the boundary of Fitzrovia and Bloomsbury, with Seven Dials only a minutes walk away, the choice of coffee shops is almost endless.
Here are five of our favourites that are a must visit:
The Espresso Room, Great Ormond Street
A tiny hole-in-the-wall of a coffee shop, with fewer seats than baristas, The Espresso Room is best suited to an Italian-style espresso slam, than a serious sit-down. Don’t let that put you off - the walk past The British Museum and Russell Square is picturesque and after your coffee, wander along Lamb’s Conduit Street for some great window shopping.
Store Street Espresso, Store Street
Time seems to stop in this uber-relaxed coffee shop. Tucked away along a side street, just north of the Den, the library like atmosphere in Store Street espresso keeps customers rooted to their seats, slowly turning the pages of some heavy looking books, while sipping away at never-ending flat whites.
Monmouth Coffee, Monmouth Street
Folklore has Monmouth Coffee down as the birthplace of the resurgence in serious coffee drinking. Whether true or not, you can’t fail to be in awe of the assortment of roast coffee behind the counter. Choose your blend for a drink to go or, if you have time, queue for a seat in their neat little booths at the back of the store.
Sharps Barber and Shop, Windmill Street
Yep, it’s a barbers - and yep, it sells coffee. Trendy doesn’t begin to describe Sharps. Pop-in for a brew and stay for a trim or visa-versa. I guess that’s the idea and from the number of seats taken, it’s definitely working.
Saucer & Spritz, Tottenham Court Road
The one stop store is fast becoming the norm. Oasis - that’s right, Oasis - sells clothes on the ground floor, while upstairs on a birdcage like mezzanine, Saucer & Spritz offer up lunch, dinner, delicate cake, exquisite cocktails, and very decent coffee.
